Completely shameless...

I am quite shameless where my daughter is concerned. Here is a bit from the college website with a short video clip of Simone at the bottom. My only excuse for this is that after a final post tomorrow, I shall be gone for good!

  1. Many congratulations to Simone on her stellar results - I hope she flourishes at Oxford- we will watch her political career with interest ( even if I don't actually agree with her politics!!)

My daughter's results don't quite compare academically, but we are still pleased; when I consider the little scrap of a child who left school at eight unable to do anything, she has achieved far beyond even our expectations. One maths module awaits though in Jan, so not quite done yet!

  4. Congratulations, Simone, great results!

My daughter is also off to the university of her choice after getting triple distinctions in her BTEC (A level equivalent) course. Luckily you don't have to wait so long for those results! It must be nerve racking for those who don't get the grades they need so close to the start of the academic year.

  6. Peter, I almost feel tempted, for your sons sake, to offer him a place at our tuition group, but leaving aside the fact that the GCSE groups are pretty full, I think you may drive us all completely bonkers within a few weeks!

Since the demise of Simon's blog may mean that our paths don't cross again, I do hope that Peter find some fulfilment in his later life.

Thanks. She is going to Hertford College; the one with the Bridge of Sighs. I have an awful suspicion that she selected it because it was there that Brideshead Revisited was filmed in the early 80s. It was actually the college where Evelyn Waugh was and brideshead is one of her favourite books. For a long time, she was planning to apply to study English, which I regard as being a bit of a backwater. Fortunately, at the last minute she switched to PPE. I think that she feels that if she is going, she should have the full experience of dreaming spires and so on; hence choosing Hertford!

    Simon.

I think you missed Peter's point. The point was, he has no intention of working with C4 again because they misrepresented them last time. Keep up...

  21. That's a fair point, but in my defence it's not always easy to separate fact from his fantasies.

In what way did C4 misrepresent them?
