Graham Stuart out of the picture for a long while

I thought that I would just let readers know that Graham Stuart, upon whom many home educating parents have been placing their hopes for dealing with the flexi-schooling business, has been involved in a serious car crash. He is badly hurt and will not be dealing with anything,  other than recovering his own health,  for  the foreseeable future.

  1. I wish him a complete and speedy recovery.

  2. he does not need to do anything as law not going to be changed on home education
Labour when it wins next election may change law on home education but it may have more important things to be getting n with such as the state of the nation debt

  3. Thanks for flagging this up. I wish him all the best too.

OK - to just smooth troubled waters a bit. He has had an accident and is in
hospital and the word on the Flexischooling Families UK website (administered by Alison Sauer who is in close contact with Graham Stuart and
his office in his absence) as of 20 hours ago is this:

    UPDATE:

Graham Stuart is likely to be in hospital for some time as he has smashed himself up pretty badly but he will be OK and he is, apparently, in good
    spirits.

Sam Richards, his assistant, is now the person in the office dealing with Education.

Lord Lucas has stepped into the breach and we will come up with a plan of action in the next day or so.

    Hope this helps.

    Kind regards

    1. So 'that Bucket woman' has the ear of Graham Stuart whilst he is in hospital in the first stages of recovery from a serious accident. That sounds plausible.

  5. Don't worry we are in safe hands now. Posted on a group from Alison Sauer

Graham Stuart MP is likely to be ill for some time (he had a car crash last
weekend and will be off for months probably). At the same time his assistant has
left suddenly. As a result of which I have spent some hours on the phone to his
office getting the new guy up to speed.

I have spoken to Lord Lucas this morning. He will seek a meeting with the
ministry to get some clarification on where we are up to. Will let you know any
details as soon as I hear. He intimated that they were making noises about
producing something last night but I've been hearing this for weeks.

Peter Humphreys (CPE-PEN) and I have put together a document which I will try to
finish in the next few days so that it can used by anyone that wishes. It
includes testimonials from parents, legal arguments and practical solutions.

Can anyone get local papers to cover their story? Or local radio? The more media
    coverage we have the better.

I am also trying to get to speak to Pat Glass MP at the moment who is taking
over as chair of the education committee for now. She is an MP up in North West
    Durham.

TES has spoken to Hollinsclough and Erpingham this week. We are hopeful they
    will run a supportive article.

Basically the plan is to create a lot of noise now. The basis of which is there
was NO CONSULTATION at all. Under the rules of the civil service reform they are
supposed to derive policy change from consultation with those who may be
affected, not produce it purely from within. They have broken those rules. The
DfE have STILL not spoken to any flexischoolers or flexischools to date to my
knowledge.....and I was in touch with both Hollinsclough and Erpingham this
    morning.....

I will be putting in another FOI this afternoon regarding consultation, advice
    and procedure.

Well may you ask! Her one of companies, currently trading as SC Education, is very involved in flexi-schooling and it would be a blow to her if this was no longer to be allowed by local authorities. Perhaps she will change careers and join the circus or something if flexi-schooling really does come to an end. I say this, because she and her husband are now involved in a new company called Midland Productions Limited, which is concerned with the performing arts.

Oh god why do I feel like I walked onto the set of Life of Brian? Which one of them is playing Biggus Dickus (played by Graham Chapman in the original)?

  9. She speaks again on HE-UK. Her FB page said she was ill all the time with migraines and such but yet here she says she's been doing 'voluntary work for charities'.

XXXXX it is no problem, truly. I realised the mistakes were just mistakes! And none of us is perfect.

People are apt to have a right go at me if I don't at least try and correct some stuff though so I do apologise for any insult!!

I apologise also that I am barely ever here. Usually when I come on it's as a result of someone sending me an email or message saying "come and respond to
    this please."

I'm trying to keep everyone informed of what is happening in the world of the flexischooling fiasco but you know how it is....if I didn't say anything I would be being secretive and when I do say something it is reported as bragging. Damned if you do, damned if you don't. C'est la vie!

I even had to resort to a disclaimer this morning reminding those that like to claim such things that I wasn't representing anyone as a group. Sigh. It's all a bit wearing. I prefer to spend my energy and spare time defending the rights of flexischoolers for the charities I (do voluntary) work for, not fighting off those who just take pot shots because it's my head above the parapet and that's how they spend their spare time.

    A

PS part of the reason I have had to correct XXXXX is because, yet again, someone is seeing fit to publish messages from here, without permission, to the wider
world. As it is merely trying to make trouble for me I really don't care (other than trying to correct facts at source) but please be warned. Do not put
personal info on here that you do not wish to share with the world as there are people with no scruples who will copy it, possibly even alter it, and use it in public if they think it is juicy enough.
