A home educated child's views

I cannot resist the temptation to post a link to my daughter's views, as expressed to the Guardian recently:

I love the familiar use of 'Ed'. She has obviously been hanging around in his office for far too long!

  1. I might not agree with Simone but I'm glad she's working for Ed - might challenge some of his assumptions about home education as she's such a confident and articulate person. Ed Balls as Labout leader though? Eeek. Diane Abbott would be my choice but then it's not my party any more.

  2. Balls would not be my choice for leader either. I agree about Diane Abbot, used to see quite a bit of her in Hackney and she always struck me as a pretty sound MP, at least for the constituency.

  3. They say, if you're not a socialist at sixteen, you have no heart; if you still are a socialist at 40 you have no brain.....

Ed Balls is prominent member of the Fabian Society. Simon, I'd be interested to hear your views on the Fabians...

Diana Abbot wont become Labour leader it will be one of the Millband brothers who wins it.The Millbands have a far better chance of being accepted by the middle class voter.

Don't ask! Actually, my daughter has recently joined the Fabians. Whenever anybody talks of them I have this image of people like George Bernard Shaw. There is something quaint and old fashioned about them and I suppose that I should be grateful that she has chosen them and not the Socialist Workers Party.

Ah yes, the quaint and old fashion George Bernard Shaw who said: "Under Socialism, you would not be allowed to be poor. You would be forcibly fed, clothed, lodged, taught, and employed whether you liked it or not. If it were discovered that you had not character and industry enough to be worth all this trouble, you might possibly be executed in a kindly manner; but whilst you were permitted to live, you would have to live well."

I understand the Fabian emblem is a wolf in sheep's clothing. Are you aware of their history? Take a look at this three part interview - Fabianism-Leninism-Communism with G.Edward Griffin. The third part deals with with Fabianism:
