Request for large home educating family

I have had a request from a television producer who is looking for a home edcuating family with a lot of children. She wants one with at least seven or eight kids and may be contacted here:

I’m working on a Channel 4 documentary about big families. We have a couple of families that are home educators and we would like to find other families who might do the same. We are looking for families with 10 or more children.

Do you know of any? Your help would be most appreciated.

Best Wishes

  1. Actually I know quite a few home educators who fit the criteria, but I also think they would be mad to take part in any thing like this. You only have to look at any tabloid newspaper to see that if there is one thing that annoys people it is large families. They are full of comments about benefit scroungers and over populating the planet. Even if the family aren't actually on "benefits" there are loads of comments about stopping child benefit at the second child etc.

If you think it can tough being a home educator... try having a large family!

  2. I agree, Julie.

The producers are probably hoping the family will also be Christian so there'll be plenty to publically ridicule/criticise them for.

I wouldn't respond to such a request. Sometimes I see families on reality tv programmes (sorry, 'documentaries') and wonder what on earth the parents were thinking of to expose their children that way. But that's just me.

Or maybe they're out to expose the Quiverfull fundementalist movement. That's those of you using the ACE indoctrination curriculum.

-Gosh, who ever you are, there seems a lot of hatred in you! Now I am no great fan for ACE,, for various reasons, most of them educational, but you do seem a bit OTT about all this. Also I think that you may actually be wrong, many of the folk I know who you may label as in the QF brigade actually reject ACE from two different directions.... I am not sure that you can link it with QF that closely.
