The return of Georgie Eden

Last year a person calling herself Georgie Eden commented for a while on the Badman Review Action Group list. She wrote in an odd and stilted way which suggested that she was not English, but was perhaps American. Several people assumed her to be Kelly Green, author of A Matter of Conscience and also the Kelly Green and Gold Blog. This person has now popped up on the HE-UK list. She has taken to putting this beneath her posts:

This must surely be written by an American! The temptation to reprint some of her comments is almost irresistible, but she has not yet said anything worth reading. Does anybody have any ideas as to her true identity? My money is still on Kelly Green, but I could be wrong about this.

  1. Classic!!! and absolutely American in its tone. I wonder what punishment one would get if one were to reprint something she said...??? :P (only one way to find out)

  2. What she wrote then Webb? did she say Badman is crazy? if she did i agree.

  3. nothing quite so juicy i'm afraid. There is some waffle about circulars and other such piffle though... :P

    (Oh...the temptation...)

  4. New information indicates a home educating American lawyer in the London area. I shall report back as soon as more data emerge.

Resist, Loz, resist. You know what happened last time you gave in to these foolish impulses.

  8. What is this obsession with outing people who value privacy? Both of you have criticized lists for supposedly picking on people and driving them away if they hold different views to the majority (though you struggle to provide evidence for this when asked). How are you any better?

  9. looks like you upset anon Loz you must try to be a good girl!

  10. Simon holds himself up as virtuous because he supposedly doesn't use false names on the internet - he wouldn't sink to signing up to an email list under a false name, for instance. Yet he cannot see that there is little difference between this and using go-betweens to pass on the emails to him. If anything this is worse because it involves others in 'cloak and dagger', agreement breaking activities. Surely it's more moral to break the list rules yourself than to encourage someone else to do it for you?

  11. does any one really care what is written on a email list? I no doubt that Webb is a bit of a rascal and will tell a few half truths but does any really care?
Is Webb trying to get Loz to be a naughty girl and pass on the comments on these emails list to him? I hoping for something a bit more juicy LOL

  12. "does any one really care what is written on a email list?"

Well obviously Simon does, since he reports on it so often in his blog. I'm not sure he would have much of a blog without it.

yes when Webb goes on about email lists it is soooooo boring lets have more on what the future holds for home education how will it look in 5 years time? will that 20 day offrule go up to 30 days or 40 days?

Who cares about some USA lawyer living in London?

  14. Simon I would be a bit more circumspect with your comments if I were you. I think you might be in danger of losing your blog and probably a lot more.

  16. She is more than capable of serving a 'cease and desist' order on the ISP Google (taking into account the safe harbour provisions) then following it through with a civil suit. Altogether she's a nasty person to get on the wrong side of. Wouldn't want her as a next door neighbour that's for sure.

  21. I have been waiting for an opportunity like this for years...so how much exactly are you willing to bet , Simon? And Anon at 07.45...will you put your worldly goods up for grabs on that guess too?

  22. Okay... leaving aside who exactly is who ( on any other list or this blog) does copying a copyright notice count as breach of copyright?

Ah Tania, good to see you back here again. No, I wouldn't actually be betting on this because somebody has helpfully told me that 'Georgie' is about to become the involved in a proposed free school in London. This would rule out Kelly Green, who is of course in Canada. My second guess would be the home educating American lawyer in the London area. What odds are you offering on this?

What I am to induce from this gnomic utterance is anybody's guess! Except perhaps that the Georgie now posting on HE-UK is not the same Georgie Eden who was posting on BRAG? Ooops!

You must control yourself from telling lies. At the time that the article was published Georgie clearly stated that she declined the invitation.

People have warned you. I hope she goes for you.
